White Plum – 14” x 14”. Rice paper on cradle board – mixed media. The process behind this painting is as follows – the sheet of rice paper was used to blot washes on other paintings. It was then crinkled and a dry brush dipped in black ink was dragged over some of the crinkled areas. The painting was then lightly misted to relax the crinkles in the rice paper. Based on the black ink marks, the plum painting emerged. The painting was then mounted on a gessoed cradle board with acrylic medium. Acrylics, alcohol inks and pastels were used to further develop the painting.
